In Alabama, how old does a girl have to be to leave, or consent to ?

I live in Hoover Alabama with 3 roommates. One of them is an African American guy who is 19 and has been dating a now 16 year old girl for over a year. She is caucasian. Her parents just found out and are not willing to accept him because of his skin color. He offered to sit down and talk it out only to be told (with other select words) to get away from them and their daughter. They claim that he needs to let her live her life and that she has plans to "make something of herself" and he doesn't need to hinder her. He works at best buy, at least 40 hours a week, and brings home around 1300 dollars every check. He completely supports himself and hasn't relied on anyone for anything since he graduated in May of 08. They forbid her to even talk on the phone to her and she lives an hour away. What could he do? She wants out of their house, not necessarily to live with him, but to be away from her judgmental parents and live her life the way she wants to. I am 19 and left my parents house due to a similar duel, not the skincolor issue though. And now I get along with the parentals like never before. We never fight now and we understand why each other thought the ways that we did. I dont want to influence her in either way, I just want to know what could be done.
