Is it tacky to make a wedding reception BYOB?

To start with, you'd need to check with the reception facility to see if BYOB is even allowed. That said, I would be kind of surprised if someone said a wedding reception was BYOB. My suggestion would be to either skip the alcohol or perhaps find a location that would be less expensive and try to include at least beer and wine to drink. If you're planning on getting married on NYE, you've picked one of the most expensive days to rent a hall. You would probably get a better deal if you got married on 1/2/10 and maybe you could get your reception with limited alcohol. Just a thought!
